Whether you want to acquire a new property, develop a
brownfield site, renovate a building, or meet new regulatory
requirements, SME has the environmental acumen and resources
to effectively chart your course.
Our environmental team
includes specialists in hydrogeology, geology, remediation
engineering, civil engineering, ecology, natural resources,
biology, chemistry, hazardous/toxic waste, industrial hygiene,
regulatory compliance, and forensics. We regularly monitor
changing regulatory requirements so you can stay ahead of the
curve.
You can call on SME to perform environmental assessments for
property development, including Phase I and Phase II
Environmental Site Assessments (ESA), Baseline Environmental
Assessments (BEA), Due Care Documentation, Remedial Action
Plans, Remediation and Closure Reports. Our redevelopment
group will help you take advantage of brownfield funding
incentives. We also have experience with state and federally
funded projects. We provide Environmental Assessments (EA),
Environmental Impact Statements (EIS), and National
Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) assessments. As always, our
goal is give you practical, economical strategies that
facilitate remediation and redevelopment.
If building renovation and demolition is on your plate, we'll
identify potential environmental hazards — asbestos,
lead-based paint, mold, mercury, PCBs and medical waste — and
develop management plans and abatement project specifications,
as well as provide onsite monitoring.
Regulatory compliance is another active part of our business.
Services run the gamut from compliance audits and ISO 14001
Environmental Management Systems (EMS) consulting and implementation
to pollution prevention and training. Our Plymouth
Environmental Team is ISO 14001 certified and brings
first-hand experience in developing and implementing an ISO
14001 EMS. From environmental
policy development to training programs, we're here
for you. We also have certified storm water operators and
specialists accredited in soil erosion and sedimentation
control to assist you with storm water permitting issues as
well as compliance during construction and operation.
If water supply is the issue, namely, assessing the adequacy
of the water supply for residential communities, agricultural
and golf course irrigation, or industrial/potable water use,
SME can help resolve your water woes. In fact, we are keeping
an eye on pending legislation in Michigan that may mean
stricter permitting requirements.
We all have a shared interest in safeguarding the environment.
Sensitive environmental site conditions or environmental
hazards don't derail projects; bad decisions and poor
solutions derail projects. You can always count on SME to do
what's right for the project — and the public.
