SME Awarded Contract for Village Lakes Mixed-Use Development

July 9, 2008 (Plymouth, MI) – KIRCO Construction has awarded Soil and Materials Engineers, Inc. (SME) a contract to provide construction materials services for Village Lakes, the newest commercial development in White Lake Township, Michigan.

Redevelopment of the 39-acre site, located at M-59 and Elizabeth Lake Road, will encompass 165,000 square-feet of retail, including a new prototype JC Penny store, and an 80,000-square-foot medical office building. The project is the first of many mixed-used developments planned for the strategic joint venture created between Gershenson Realty & Investment, LLC (GRI) and KIRCO Development.

SME is providing services for the retail buildings on the site, including construction materials services related to proofrolls, engineered fill, foundations, concrete, and pavements. SME previously conducted a geotechnical evaluation and provided recommendations for soil and groundwater conditions, seismic site class, site preparation and earthwork, foundations, retention basin considerations, construction considerations, and pavement design.
