June 12, 2008 (Plymouth, MI) - Soil and Materials Engineers, Inc.
(SME) has been named one of "Michigan's Economic Bright Spots" by
Corp! magazine. Recipients received their awards yesterday
at a breakfast program at the MSU Management Education Center in Troy
and are featured in the Corp! May / June 2008 issue.
"Michigan is home to a number of thriving companies, many of
them growing and expanding. From hundreds of potentials, Corp!
selected 36 organizations, companies that have not only the positive
attitude necessary to further success, but a tried-and-tested plan
that could be a model for others willing to pay the ultimate business
compliment: imitation," stated J.D. Booth and Sue Voyles with
Corp! magazine.
The winners list is comprised of profitable companies with at least
50 percent of their employees based in the state and demonstrated
achievement in one or more of the following areas:
- Involved in a Michigan economic development or redevelopment project for industrial or commercial;
- Experienced expansion of locations or sites in Michigan;
- Involved in an emerging or growth business sector;
- Has made a conscious decision to stay in Michigan.
